The world is transitioning into a new era where print is going “out of style.” Because of this, UPMG hopes to bring back the love for print by organizing the first ever UPMG Youth Print Media Congress (YPMC), to be organized by Jun Aluad and Dan Villa with Synermaxx as the official digital partner.

Last August 24, 2016, an initial meeting was held with student leaders in schools such as the De La Salle University, Far Eastern University Manila, Philippine Women’s University, St. Jude Manila, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran, among others.

By gathering students who express an interest in journalism, communications, or both and showing them the intricacies and values of print media, the UPMG YPMC hopes to reinforce the youth’s love for both reading and writing. More than just informative talks, outstanding student publications and interested college students will also be recognized and rewarded through the Gawad Inkstitution to highlight the congress.

Awards are given to students who have shown excellence in the fields of art and writing. As Harper Lee once said, “Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.” Inspiring the youth to love reading and writing is the first step on the journey of #PrintPower.
